Ewan Porter

Ewan Porter’s successful career in professional golf, which included multiple victories on the Korn Ferry Tour and Australasian PGA Tour, and recently becoming a globally recognized broadcaster, can all be traced back to both Cronulla Golf Club and the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation.

Growing up in the sports hub that is the Sutherland Shire, Ewan joined Cronulla GC at the age of 12. Honing his game after school each day and being given the opportunity to compete alongside members in their weekend club competitions was invaluable to Ewan’s growth not just as a golfer, but also as a human being.

The Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation also proved to be a wonderful stepping stone in Ewan’s burgeoning golf career. What began as a chance to compete against golfers of his own age, would develop into meeting his idol, Greg Norman, and teeing it up against the professionals whilst still a junior.

Ewan proudly states ‘I’ll always be thankful to not just my parents, but the opportunities presented to me from my time as a member of Cronulla Golf Club and the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, because I wouldn’t have achieved what I have without each one’s continued support throughout my career.

To now be in a position to give back and provide a platform from which a junior golfer’s career could rocket into the stratosphere, gives me far greater pleasure than any individual success I’ve achieved.

The Junior 6s Tour is not only unique in its one-of-a-kind format, but it will allow competitors to compete in a professional environment and prepare them for what potentially lies ahead in their careers.’
